history
Markersdorf was laid out as a two-sided row village with forest hooves around 1200 by German farmers. The place was first mentioned in the 14th century as "Marcwardestorp" in a document made out in Merseburg . Other place name forms are "Margwarstorff" (1357), "Marcquardistorff" (1366) and "Markirstorff" (1436), which means "village of a Markwart". The church and the cemetery were donated in 1404 by the burgrave Albrecht von Leisnig . Until 1546 the parish of Markersdorf was a man-made estate , which also had the hereditary courts over the place. After that, Markersdorf was an official place in the Amt Penig , which had come to the House of Schönburg through an exchange in 1543 , but was under the sovereignty of the Albertine Electorate of Saxony as " Schönburg State Rule " . In 1835 Markersdorf was integrated into the royal Saxon office of Rochlitz with the office or rule of Penig . From 1856 Markersdorf belonged to the Penig court office and from 1875 to the Rochlitz administration .
With the reorganization of the states of the GDR into 14 districts and the second district reform, the municipality of Markersdorf was assigned to the newly formed Rochlitz district in the Chemnitz district (from 1953: Karl-Marx-Stadt district). The incorporation to Thierbach took place on July 1, 1964. With this, Markersdorf came to the Mittweida district in 1994 . On January 1, 1999, Markersdorf became part of the city of Penig with the incorporation of Thierbach.
