Ismene , sometimes called Peruvian daffodils , is a genus of plants within the Amaryllis family (Amaryllidaceae). The genus Ismene is common in Peru , Bolivia and Ecuador .

Ismene species grow as perennial herbaceous plants . The hermaphrodite flowers are threefold.
Systematics
The Ismene species have a strong resemblance to Hymenocallis , a genus to which the genus Ismene was often assigned in the past. However, the genus Ismene differs from the genus Hymenocallis in some significant features: in foliage, distribution and chromosome number .
Synonyms for Ismene Salisb. ex Herb. are Liriope Herb. nom. illeg., Elisena Herb. , Pseudostenomesson Velarde .

- Ismene amancaes (Ruiz & Pav.) Herb (Syn .: Ismene crinifolia Salisb. Nom. Inval., Ismene integra M. Roem. ): It iswidespreadin Peru .
- Ismene × deflexa Herb. (Syn .: Ismene × festalis Worsley ): This natural hybrid of Ismene longipetala × Ismene narcissiflora occurs in Peru.
- Ismene hawkesii (Vargas) Gereau & Meerow : It occurs only in the Peruvian region of Cusco .
- Ismene longipetala (Lindl.) Meerow (Syn .: Elisena longipetala Lindl. ): It iswidespreadfrom southwest Ecuador to northwest Peru.
- Ismene morrisonii (Vargas) Gereau & Meerow : It occurs only in the Peruvian region of Apurímac .
- Ismene narcissiflora (Jacq.) M. Roem. (Syn .: Ismene calathina Herb. Nom. Superfl., Ismene calathiformis (Redouté) M.Roem. , Ismene tagliabuei M.Roem. ): It occurs in south-central Peru.
- Ismene nutans (Ker Gawl.) Herb. : It occurs only in the Peruvian region of Cusco .
- Ismene pedunculata Herb. : It is common in Peru.
- Ismene ringens (Ruiz & Pav.) Gereau & Meerow : It is common in Peru.
- Ismene sublimis (Herb.) Gereau & Meerow (Syn .: Elisena sublimis Herb. ): It occurs only in the Peruvian region of La Libertad .
- Ismene vargasii (Velarde) Gereau & Meerow (Syn .: Pseudostenomesson vargasii Velarde ): It is widespread in Peru.
