Isocinchomeronic acid is a chemical compound from the group of pyridinedicarboxylic acids .

Extraction and presentation

Isocinchomeronic acid is produced by the oxidation of coal tar butidine and of aldehyde collidine or by heating carboisocinchomeronic acid .

The compound can also be prepared from 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid .

properties

Isocinchomeronic acid is a white to yellow odorless solid that is practically insoluble in cold water and diethyl ether. It is sparingly soluble in ethanol . If heated above 255 ° C, it decomposes into carbonic acid and nicotinic acid .

use

Isocinchomeronic acid can be used to make polyesters .
