Rex Andrew Clement Alarcon (born August 6, 1970 in Daet , Camarines Norte , Philippines ) is a Filipino clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Daet .

Life

Rex Andrew Alarcon studied at the University of Santo Thomas and received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Caceres on November 9, 1996 .

After ordination he was first chaplain in Naga and then from 1997 to 1999 personal secretary to the Archbishop of Caceres, Leonard Zamora Legaspi OP . From 1999 to 2001 he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University , where he obtained a licentiate in church history . After returning home, he became a lecturer at the Santo Rosario Seminary . In 2002 he became director of the diocesan stewardship program and in 2007 director of the Naga Parish School. In 2013 he became director of the diocesan school inspectorate, member of the college of consultors and spokesman for the archdiocese. In 2016 he became President of the Catholic Education Association of the Philippines.

On January 2, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Daet. The Archbishop of Caceres, Rolando Tria Joven Tirona OCD , ordained him episcopal on March 19 of the same year in the cathedral in Naga . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop Adolfo Tito Yllana , Apostolic Nuncio in Australia, from the Archdiocese of Caceres , and the Bishop of Virac , Manolo Alarcon de los Santos . The inauguration in the Diocese of Daet took place on the following day.
