Life

Israel Hoppe was a son of the councilor Israel Hoppe († 1624) and his wife Justina, b. Fox. He attended high school in Elbing and came to Soldau in 1616 to learn Polish. In 1618 he visited the Polish Diet in Warsaw . From 1620 to 1622 he studied ancient languages ​​and political science in Rostock and Greifswald . Hoppe's epitaph was located in the former Dominican monastery church Sankt Marien (today Galerie EL ) in Elbing.
