It's All Over Now, Baby Blue
It's All Over Now, Baby Blue is a song released by Bob Dylan in 1965 .
Dylan probably wrote lyrics and melody in January 1965 and recorded them for his album Bringing It All Back Home . He was accompanied by the bassist Bill Lee . The song was released as a single on March 22, 1965. It was speculated whether Dylan celebrated his grief over the futile love for Joan Baez with the song or whether he was explaining to folk music fans why he was leaving the folk camp. To this day, however, it is unclear whether he even thought of a specific person or whether different people are dealt with in the text.
In 2002 Uncut magazine listed the work as number 11 of the best Dylan songs of all time. In a reader poll by the magazine, It's All Over Now, Baby Blue came in tenth place among Dylan songs, while the piece came in 7th place in another lineup.
Joyce Carol Oates became her short story Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? stimulated by Dylan's song.
The line of text "But it's all over now, Baby Blue" was used in 1987 for George Harrison's When We Was Fab .
