Itte Detenamo

Itte Detenamo (born September 22, 1986 in Buada ) is a Nauruan weightlifter . He is the son of Vinson Detenamo and the cousin of Quincy Detenamo .

Career

Detenamo got into weightlifting through his father and older sister Rosetta at the age of ten. A little later he started training with Marcus Stephen .

With Reanna Solomon and Yukio Peter he was part of the Nauruan Olympic delegation at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . There he only achieved 14th place in the over 105 kg category, but equaled his personal best of 192.5 kg in jerking on the first attempt. Detenamo failed to make the 197.5 kg and skipped the third attempt because of dehydration .

At the Commonwealth Games 2006 he won the bronze medal in his weight class with an overall result of 360.0 kg. In 2006 and 2007 he was oceanic champion in single combat in Apia (2006 also in the individual disciplines snatch and push), in 2008 he took second place in duel and push and first place in snatch at the Oceania Championships in Auckland .

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , he was the only Nauruan athlete. He finished tenth in his weight class and set a new personal best with a total of 385 lifted kilograms (175 kg in snatch, 210 kg in jerk).

At the Commonwealth Games 2010 and 2014 , he won the silver medal with duels of 397 and 396 kg respectively.
