Ivan L. Moody (* 7. January 1980 in Denver , Colorado as Ivan Lewis Greening ), formerly known under the pseudonym Ghost , is the lead singer of US metal band Five Finger Death Punch (FFDP). Before that he was active in bands like Ghost Machine and Motograter .

Career

Moody made a few appearances with a few small bands before joining the nu-metal band Motograter in 2002 . They released their album Motograter on June 24, 2003. In the same year the band made an appearance at Ozzfest and went on tour with bands like Korn , Disturbed , Marilyn Manson , Nothingface , Slipknot , Mushroomhead , SkinCrawl and Killswitch Engage, increasing their engagement Notoriety. Motograter dissolved for the time being in 2006. The band got back together for a concert that same year. On this Moody made it clear that he had finished with the band.

Shortly thereafter, Moody joined the band Five Finger Death Punch and released the album Ghost Machine with his side project Ghost Machine on July 26, 2005. The second album Hypersensitive was released on November 21, 2006. In the same year, Five Finger Death Punch entered the next level Studios and Complex Studios in Los Angeles , California teamed up with Steve Bruno and Mike Sarkisyan to record their debut album. The album was produced by guitarist Zoltan Bathory and drummer Jeremy Spencer and mixed by ex- Machine-Head and ex- Soulfly guitarist Logan Mader . Moody also starred in the 2009 horror film Bled in the role of Incubus.

Five Finger Death Punch's debut album The Way of the Fist (2007) achieved great commercial success, selling 420,000 copies in the US and placing three singles in the top 10. The second album called War Is the Answer (2009) also sold over 44,000 copies in the first weeks of release and placed five top 10 singles. The band played at many festivals and held a number of tours, including together with the band Korn.

Before Motograter, Moody played in a band called the Black Blood Orchestra.

Acting roles

In 2008 Moody first appeared as an actor in front of the camera, he had a supporting role as Incubus in Christopher Hutson's vampire film Bled . Darren Lynn Bousman cast him in 2012 for the lead role as "The Hobo Clown" for his horror musical The Devil's Carnival .

Awards and nominations

Motograter was named Best Band of 2004 by Hit Parader . Five Finger Death Punch received various awards such as the Best New Band Award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards 2009. They were also awarded the Best International Newcomer Award at the Kerrang! Awards in 2009 and won the Best Breakthrough Band Award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards in 2010.
