Ivan Strinić (born July 17, 1987 in Split , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian football player . The defender was most recently under contract with AC Milan and plays for the Croatian national team .
Career
society
Strinić began his career at Hajduk Split and later in France at Le Mans FC before moving to NK Hrvatski dragovoljac , where he was brought into the first team in 2007. They became runner-up in the second-highest Croatian league, two points behind Croatia Sesvete . In the following season he was committed by the first division club Hajduk Split. Hajduk was runner-up and reached the cup final. The defender played the first round match of the UEFA Europa League against FC Birkirkara from Malta on July 17, 2008 for the first time at European club level. In 2009/10 the second place was achieved again, and the Croatian Cup was also won.
In January 2011, Strinić moved from Hajduk Split to the Ukrainian club Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk for a transfer of four million euros and signed for four years.
After four years Strinić changed free transfer in January 2015 Italian club Napoli in the Serie A . He signed a five-year contract until June 30, 2019. In August 2017, Strinić moved to Naples' league rivals Sampdoria Genoa .
For the 2018/19 season, Strinić moved to AC Milan . He signed a contract that runs until June 30, 2021.
National team
Strinić played a total of 32 international matches in the youth field for Croatia between 2002 and 2008. He made his debut in the Croatian national team on May 19, 2010 in a 1-0 win in a friendly against Austria . At the European Football Championship in 2012 , Strinić played all games over the full distance.
At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Croatian squad and was part of the regular team against Turkey and the Czech Republic. Against defending champions Spain he got, like several regular players, a break and in the round of 16 against Portugal he played the full playing time including extra time. Portugal scored 1-0 there in the 117th minute and Croatia were eliminated.
