Ivo Nakić

Ivo Nakić (born  May 26, 1966 in Rijeka ) is a former Croatian basketball player .

career

Nakić played as a youth at Cantera Kvarner, in the summer of 1983 he became European Cadet Champion with Yugoslavia's selection. In 1984 he moved to Cibona Zagreb and won with the team around Dražen Petrović until 1986 twice the Yugoslav championship, once the cup competition and 1985 and 1986 the European Cup of National Champions , with Nakić in the finals against Real Madrid (1985) and Žalgiris Kaunas (1986) was not used in each case. From 1986 to 1992 he played for KK Partizan Belgrade . With the team he won other titles at national level and in the European Cup. To win the Korać Cup in 1989, the two-meter-long winger contributed a total of five points in the two finals. He won the European Cup alongside well-known players such as Vlade Divac , Predrag Danilović , Aleksandar Đorđević and Žarko Paspalj , coached by Duško Vujošević . With the success in the European Cup in 1992 Partizan was looked after by Željko Obradović , Nakić was involved in the final against Joventut de Badalona with five points in the victory of Belgrade.

After returning to Cibona Zagreb (1992/93) he went to the Spanish first division club TDK Manresa , for whom he scored 14.1 points per encounter in the ACB league in 1993/94 . Nakić, whose great strength was the throw from distance, then played for Hapoel Tzvat in Israel (1994/95), Interier Krsko in Slovenia (1995–1997) and Sava Osiguranje Rijeka in Croatia (1997), before he did during the 1997 season / 98 accepted an offer from the German second division club DJK Würzburg . There he became a teammate of Dirk Nowitzki . In his first appearance in the Würzburg colors, Nakić scored 46 points in the DBB Cup eighth final match against Bundesliga club Steiner Bayreuth and led the team to victory. With the end of the season against Bayreuth, Nakić managed a hit from the height of the center line. In the spring of 1998 he was significantly involved in the rise of Würzburg to the basketball league  . He left Würzburg after this success and played in Slovenia until the end of his career: 1998 to 2000 with Krka Novo Mesto, 2000/01 with Pivovarna Lasko.

As a coach, he ran a basketball school in his hometown of Rijeka, and in 2007 he took over the coaching position at SC Heuchelhof / Würzburg Baskets (then Regionalliga), the successor to the previous Würzburg Bundesliga club. During the spring of 2008 he returned to Croatia. Later he was responsible for the Croatian market at a player agency.
