Ivan Samijlowytsch Hruschezkyj (born September 9 . Jul / 22. September  1904 greg. In Komyschuwacha , yekaterinoslav governorate , Russian Empire ; † 26. November 1982 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) was a Ukrainian and Soviet politician.

Hruschezkyj was born in 1904 into a peasant family in what is now the urban-type settlement Komyschuwacha in the Ukrainian Oblast of Zaporizhia . Hruschezkyj had been a member of the CPSU since 1928 . In the German-Soviet War between 1941 and 1944 he was a member of the military council of various armies of the Red Army with the rank of major general . After the war he continued his party career and was most recently, from June 8, 1972 to June 24, 1976, chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic , succeeding Oleksandr Lyaschko . Hruschezkyj retired in 1976 and was replaced by Oleksiy Watschenko . He died in Kiev and was buried in the Baikowe Cemetery in Kiev.

Honors

In 1945 Hruschezkyj received the Order of the Patriotic War of the First Degree. In 1974 he was given the title Hero of Socialist Labor . In 1976 he received the Order of the Red Banner of Labor . Furthermore, he received the Order of Lenin five times , once the Order of the October Revolution and twice the Order of the Red Banner .
