Ján Orosch (born May 28, 1953 in Bratislava ) is Archbishop of the Slovak Archdiocese of Trnava .

Life

Ján Orosch received on 6 June 1976, Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bratislava by the Apostolic Administrator Bishop Julius Gabriš the priesthood . He was chaplain in Komárno and parish administrator in Bušince and Okoč as well as pastor in Nové Zámky, Bratislava-Prievoz and Bratislava-Čunovo. Between 1993 and 1999 he was dean in Štúrovo.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Semina on April 2, 2004 and at the same time with Stanislav Zvolenský auxiliary bishop of the newly founded archdiocese of Bratislava-Trnava. He was ordained bishop on May 2nd, 2004 by the Archbishop of Bratislava-Trnava, Ján Sokol . Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Slovakia, Archbishop Henryk Józef Nowacki , and the auxiliary bishop emeritus of Bratislava-Trnava, Dominik Tóth . He was also appointed vicar general.

On July 1, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . as Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Trnava. On 11 July 2013 it appointed Pope Francis to the Archbishop of Trnava. The inauguration followed on August 30 of the same year.
