Julius Gábriš (born December 5, 1913 in Tesárske Mlyňany , † November 13, 1987 in Trnava ) was the Apostolic Administrator in Trnava .

Life

He attended high school in Zlaté Moravce . After graduating from high school, he entered the seminary in Trnava in 1933 and studied at the theological faculty in Bratislava in 1936 . On June 26, 1938, he received the sacrament of ordination through Bishop Pavol Jantausch in Bratislava . From 1938 to 1944 he studied art and economics and received his doctorate on November 25, 1944 and taught history, geography and economics in Trnava. Active in parish pastoral work from 1950 to 1968. On May 15, 1968 Julius Gábriš became Vicar General of the Apostolic Administration in Trnava.

After the death of Ambróz Lazík he was on April 23, 1969 by Pope Paul VI. appointed as his successor as Apostolic Administrator of Trnava. Only four years later did the CSSR government approve the appointment of bishops. On February 19, 1973 he was ordained titular bishop of Decoriana . He received his episcopal ordination on March 3, 1973, the later Cardinal Secretary of State Agostino Casaroli in the Cathedral of St. Emmeram in Nitra ; Co-consecrators were the future Archbishop of Prague , František Tomášek , and the Bishop of Leitmeritz , Štěpán Cardinal Trochta .

His motto is: Cum auxilio Divino ("With divine help")

He died on November 13, 1987 in Trnava and was buried in his place of birth.

Posthumously Pope John Paul II appointed him archbishop pro hac vice .
