location

It is located in the historic old town of Quedlinburg to the west of the market square and its gable faces the Hohen Strasse. To the south of the detached house, a small lane runs from Hohen Strasse west to the city wall and the powder tower located there .

Architecture and history

The three-storey half - timbered house comes from an inscription on the annex from 1652. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is listed as a residential building in the Quedlinburg register of monuments. The half-timbered facade is decorated with profiled lugs , filler wood and beam heads. In the parapet fields below some windows there are star diamond motifs formed with curved rhombuses , an unusual design for Quedlinburg.

During the GDR era , the building was in a very poor condition. The house was owned by Hermann Klumpp , who worked together with the Institute for the Preservation of Monuments to ensure that it was properly restored. The corresponding work took place from 1964 to 1967. A core removal and a fundamental repair by carpentry was necessary. Three apartments were set up in the house. Due to the long construction period resulting in particular from the special construction situation in the GDR, the municipal authorities positioned themselves to the effect that such houses should be given up if possible.
