It is located in the urban area west of the market square in the historic Quedlinburg old town and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site .
Architecture and history
The property is registered in the Quedlinburg monument register as a merchant's farm . On the street side is the two-story, half-timbered residential building of the Handelshof. It was built in 1679 based on an inscription that can be read on the threshold . The builder was the carpenter Jochim Schäfer to whom the inscription M. JOCHIM SCHAEFER ZIMMERMAN refers. The facade of the baroque house is decorated with diamond framework , ornamental walling of the compartments and pyramid beam heads.
On the courtyard side there is a three-part courtyard wing, which was built in the 18th century at the latest. Its upper floor is also designed as a half-timbered structure and has decorative brickwork.
