Architecture and history
The two-storey half - timbered house is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is listed in the Quedlinburg monument register as a merchant's farm. It was created around 1580. The carvings on the north gable also date from this period, including fan rosettes . The house is characterized by a high, steep hipped roof , the roof of which dates from the construction period.
The ground floor of the building was redesigned in classicism . There is a large hall . In the living rooms there are profiled beams from the construction period. The front door in the Biedermeier style was built around 1830. The two-storey side wing was built in the 18th century.
A side wing belonging to the property was created according to a building inscription in 1712, possibly not until 1722 and has a gate entrance. On the south side of the courtyard is a two-storey building, presumably from the 18th century, which was also built in half-timbered construction.
In April 1998, the renovation of the complex began and was completed in November 1999. The Protestant Foundation Neinstedt (until 2015 Neinstedter Anstalten ) set up an integrative dwelling here, which comprises a total of twelve apartments in four houses and which also includes the courtyard and the garden.
On April 22, 2011, Good Friday , a fire broke out in the neighboring house at 36 Hohe Strasse. The fire was reported at 5:19 p.m. Eight residents of the integrative residence were evacuated. There were no injuries. The roof and gable area on the side facing Hohe Straße 36 was damaged. The fire brigade was deployed with 110 men. The fire was extinguished at 12:10 a.m. and the fire watch ended at 11:10 a.m. The technical relief organization was also in action. The cause of the fire was determined to be an attempt by a tenant of the house at Hohe Straße 36 to light a charcoal grill with alcohol on a roof terrace . The resulting jet flame ignited parts of the facade. The police are investigating negligent arson .
