József Varga (born June 6, 1988 in Debrecen ) is a Hungarian football player .

Career

At the beginning of the 2007/08 season, Varga moved from the reserve to the professional team. In the Champions League 2007/08 Debreceni Vasutas met in the second round on the Swedish champions IF Elfsborg and was eliminated with a 0-1 defeat from the competition. At the end of the 2007/08 season he finished second with his club behind MTK Budapest FC and won the Hungarian Cup with a 9-1 final win over Honvéd Budapest . In the first round of the 2008/09 UEFA Cup , Debreceni Vasutas defeated Shakhtar Karagandy 2-1 on both legs . The second round, however, was lost to BSC Young Boys 3: 7 on a return leg . In the 2008/09 season , Varga won the Hungarian championship with his club. In the following season Debreceni Vasutas moved after victories against Kalmar FF , FC Levadia Tallinn and Levski Sofia in the group stage of the Champions League, where they were eliminated without a win. In the same season they became Hungarian champions, cup winners and league cup winners. Debreceni Vasutas was also very successful in the 2011/12 season and won the championship and national cup double .

On January 30, 2013 it was announced that Varga would be on loan to Bundesliga club SpVgg Greuther Fürth until the end of the season . In Fürth he only came to six missions and was relegated with his team at the end of the season . In the summer of 2013 he was loaned to Middlesbrough FC in the English Football League Championship for one season. He then played for Debrecen for two years before moving to Videoton FC in Székesfehérvár in the summer of 2016 . There he won his fourth championship at the end of the 2017/18 season.

On October 10, 2009 Varga made his debut for the Hungarian national football team in the qualifying game for the 2010 World Cup against Portugal , which, however, was lost 3-0. Since he was still able to convince, he was then used regularly and regularly.

On September 2, 2011 Varga also played in the qualifier for the 2012 European Championship against Sweden .
