Jõõdre (German Jedra ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the municipality of Haapsalu (until 2017: rural municipality of Ridala ) in Lääne County in Estonia .

Population and location

The place has 216 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located eleven kilometers southeast of the core city of Haapsalu .

Castle Hill

Between Jõõdre ​​and the village of Saanika is the Tubrimägi castle hill (also called Tubri linn or Tubri maalinn ). The earlier fortification of the pagan Estonians is probably mentioned in the chronicle of Heinrich von Livland written at the beginning of the 13th century as Maianpata or Maianpathe castle . The origins of the complex are dated to the Iron Age.
