Puise (German Puis ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the municipality of Haapsalu (until 2017: rural municipality of Ridala ) in Lääne County in Estonia .

The place has 36 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located on the southwestern tip of the Puise peninsula .

Numerous small islands also belong to the area of ​​the village. The largest are Kumari laid , Sipelgarahu , Tondirahu , Kakrarahu , Esirahu , Hoorahu , Paljarahu , Mustarahu , Siimurahu, and Hanemaa .

Traditionally, the population lived from fishing in the Baltic Sea . The village has two ports: a fishing port in the west and a port for pleasure craft in the north.

The village and its surroundings are part of the Matsalu National Park . There are two ornithological observation towers in the village. In spring 1974 the Estonian ornithologist Sven Onno (1932–1974) was killed on the stormy sea near Puise. A memorial stone commemorates him at Puise today.
