Jörg Debatin

Jörg Felix Debatin (born December 18, 1961 in Bad Godesberg ) is a German radiologist , university professor and manager.

Life

Debatin was born in Bad Godesberg as the son of the lawyer Helmut Debatin (1926–2011) and Marie-Luise Debatin, b. Goodness, born. He attended the Aloisius College in Bonn- Bad Godesberg until March 1976 and then the United Nations International School in New York ; there he graduated in 1979 with the International Baccalaureate . He then studied applied economics ( Économie appliquée ) for a few months at the University of Paris-Dauphine . From March 1980 Debatin studied human medicine at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and graduated in May 1987. In 1988 he received his doctorate in medicine , and in 1995 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on blood flow measurements with phase contrast MRI in Zurich , where he worked at the university hospital from 1993 to June 1999 . From 1996 to 1998 Debatin obtained an Executive Master of Business Administration in economics from the University of St. Gallen .

From 1999 to 2003 he was director of the Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University Medical Center Essen and from 2003 to 2011 Medical Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf . Since October 1, 2011, he has been CEO of amedes Holding GmbH , the second largest provider of laboratory services in Germany. From 2008 to 2013 Debatin was a member of the supervisory board of Hamburger SV . Since September 1, 2014 he has been Vice President of the medical technology manufacturer GE Healthcare based in London.

In March 2019, Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn appointed Debatin as head of the newly established eleven-person advisory body Health Innovation Hub .
