Jörg Faßmann (* 1966 in Dessau ) is a German violinist and university teacher for music .

Career

Jörg Faßmann, born in Dessau in 1966, received his first violin lessons at the age of five . He won various competitions for young people and made his debut as a soloist with an orchestra at the age of nine . He studied at the Academy of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig with Klaus Hertel and in the master class of Gustav Schmahl at the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden . In 1987 he came to the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden and in 1989 became its deputy first concertmaster .

Since 1992 he has been teaching at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden and was appointed professor in 2011 . In addition, he is in great demand as a soloist and chamber music partner in Europe, the USA and Japan and has given masterclasses in Spain, Germany and the USA.

In 1995 he co-founded the Dresdner StreichTrio, which has since developed a broad repertoire, has made extensive CD and radio recordings and is a guest at festivals such as u. a. the Rheingau Music Festival , the MDR Music Summer and the Walkenried cloister concerts .

He is also the first violinist in the Frauenkirche ensemble , which was founded in 2005 . With Cornelia Osterwald and Lenka Matějáková he gave concerts as a baroque trio Dresden-Leipzig . Since 2016 he has been playing with Lenka Matějáková, Andreas Kuhlmann, Matthias Wilde and Dariya Hrynkiv in Ensemble International .

Jörg Faßmann plays a copy of the violin " Il Cannone " by Giuseppe Guarnieri from the master workshop of the violin maker Joachim Schade ( Halle / Saale ).
