Jörg Kunze (born March 20, 1968 in Clausthal-Zellerfeld ) is a former German national handball player .
Career
Kunze started with handball in Wilhelmsfeld in the Odenwald. Later he went to Leutershausen an der Bergstrasse to SG Leutershausen . With the A-youth he was German champion in 1987 and German runner-up with the Bundesliga team in 1992. When Leutershausen was relegated in 1995, Kunze switched to TV Großwallstadt , where he played until 2001. He then went to SG Flensburg-Handewitt for two years and then back to Großwallstadt for two seasons. For the 2005/06 season he moved to HBW Balingen-Weilstetten , and led the club into the first Bundesliga. During the 2006/07 season, the (age-related) injuries increased and both sides ended the contractual relationship after the first half of the season. In 2007/08 he coached TV Hemsbach in the regional league and then played for SG Hohensachsen until 2011 in the Baden regional league.
In total, Kunze played 420 Bundesliga games, in which he scored 1,100 goals, as well as 80 games for the German national handball team.
After graduating from high school, Kunze completed an apprenticeship as a banker.
