Jörg Mannes

Jörg Mannes (* 1969 in Vienna ) is an Austrian ballet dancer and choreographer .

life and career

Mannes received his ballet training at the Vienna State Opera , in Monte Carlo, London and New York City. From 1985 he was a ballet member at the Vienna State Opera. In 1988 he received a six-month scholarship at the Paris Opera and from 1991 he was a solo dancer at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf with Heinz Spoerli . He danced in choreographies by John Neumeier , John Cranko , William Forsythe and Rudolf Nurejew , among others .

1994 debuted man with March to 23 Piano Concerto of Mozart as a choreographer. He has worked as a guest choreographer in Montreal and Indianapolis, at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow and at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. From 2001 to 2004 he was employed as chief choreographer at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven and from 2004 to 2006 at the Landestheater Linz . Since 2006 he has been the ballet director at the Hanover Opera . He is to be replaced by Marco Goecke in the 2019/2020 season .

  • 2001: Helsinki Ballet Competition , 1st Prize for Pramin (Music: Nikolai Tscherepnin , Johann Sebastian Bach)
  • 2010: German Theater Prize Der Faust for Dangerous Liaisons (music: Mark Polscher, Antonio Vivaldi, Georg Friedrich Händel), nomination in the categories Best Choreography and Best Acting Performance in Dance (for Denis Piza as Valmont)
