Jörg Markert

Jörg Olaf Markert (born April 30, 1973 in Marienberg ) is a German politician ( CDU ). Since November 2018 he has been a member of the Saxon State Parliament ( MdL ).

Jörg Markert studied at the Federal University for Public Administration in Brühl from 1992 and graduated in 1995 with a degree in administrative management (FH). He then worked until 2007 as a clerk in the Saxon State Office for the settlement of unresolved property issues, in the Saxon State Ministry for Economics and Labor , in the Saxon State Chancellery and in the Saxon State Ministry for Environment and Agriculture . Between 2007 and 2011, Markert was a consultant in the Saxon State Ministry for Environment and Agriculture and in the Saxon State Ministry for Culture . In 2011 he became the career qualification for higher administrative service at the School of Public Administration and Justice in Meissen and then was head of the Minister's Office in the Ministry of Education. Between 2012 and 2018 Markert was a consultant in the Saxon State Ministry of Finance and in the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior before he was head of the ministerial office in the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior from March 2018.

Markert, who has been a member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) since 1991 , sat for it from 1999 to 2008 as a member of the district council of the Central Ore Mountains . Between 2004 and 2016 he was also a member of the state board of the CDU Saxony. In the state elections in Saxony in 2014 , Markert ran for the Saxon CDU on position 23, but missed the entry into the state parliament. After the former Prime Minister of Saxony Stanislaw Tillich announced his retirement from active politics and resigned his state parliament mandate on October 31, 2018, Markert moved from the state list to the state parliament on November 1, 2018 . There he was a member of the Interior Committee and the Committee on School and Sport for the CDU parliamentary group in his first term.

At the end of October 2018, Jörg Markert was elected as the CDU's direct candidate for the 2019 state elections in the Erzgebirge 5 constituency. He won the direct mandate with 34.6% of all first votes.

In the current electoral term he is tourism policy spokesman for his group. He is also a member of the interior and science committee and a member of the AfD committee of inquiry.
