Jörg Reber (born May 6, 1974 in Grosshöchstetten ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player who last played for the SCL Tigers in the National League A as a defender . From April 2014 to 2018 Reber was head of sport at the SCL Tigers.
Career
player
Jörg Reber began his career as an ice hockey player at SC Bern , for whom he was active from 1991 to 1995 in the National League A and was Swiss champion in the 1991/92 season . For the 1995/96 season, the defender moved to HC La Chaux-de-Fonds from the National League B , with whom he immediately made promotion to the NLA as a second division champion. From 1997 to 2001, the left shooter was on the ice for the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers in the NLA. He then received a contract with EHC Biel . With his team, he won the NLB four times in five years in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and was promoted to the NLA with the team in the 2007/08 season. In the promotion season, Reber also gave two templates for the NLA club Kloten Flyers . In 2009 he moved to the SCL Tigers . After the Langnauer were defeated in the league qualification of the NLB champions Lausanne HC in the 2012/13 season and relegated to the second highest division, Reber ended his career as an active player.
International
For Switzerland , Reber took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 1994 , where he finished eighth and last with his team, after which they were relegated to Division I. On December 14, 2010 Jörg Reber made his debut in the senior national team in a friendly against France (2-1 win) in Grenoble . At the age of 36, he is the second oldest nominated Swiss national player after Paul-André Cadieux , who first appeared for the national team in 1990 at the age of 42.
Trainer and functionary
After the end of his playing career, he worked as a coach in the SCL Tigers' junior division, and in April 2014 Reber took over the position of sports director at the SCL Tigers. In spring 2018 he announced his retirement from this position at the end of the 2017/18 season.
