Jörn Schipper

Jörn Schipper (born October 14, 1955 in Bremen ) is a German drummer and composer of modern jazz . Occasionally he also plays the tuba , euphonium or bass guitar .

Schipper first studied school music and education for the disabled at the University of Bremen and played in the rock band "Tequila Sunrise" before completing his training as a jazz drummer and composer at the Berklee College of Music and the Hamburg University of Music and Drama . He also took lessons from Gerry Brown and Adam Nussbaum . He founded his own ensembles such as "Cool Blue", "Planet Blow" or "Extended String Ensemble". Since 1982 he has also given international concerts. He also played in numerous band projects by Gabriele Hasler (such as “Foolish Heart”), but also formed groupsManfred Bründl as well as with Bob Degen and Thomas Heidepriem . Schipper has also performed solo concerts, is one of the “Beat Poets” or the “Fringe” trio and also plays contemporary music in the “Ensemble En Silence”.

He taught at the Frankfurt University of Music and is co-founder of the "State Working Group for Jazz and Improvised Music in Hesse".
