A Jewish community in Lamarche in the Vosges department in the French region of Lorraine had existed since the 18th century at the latest.

history

In the 18th century there was a prayer room that was also used by the Jewish residents of Bulgnéville , Damblain and Removille . During the German occupation in World War II , the Jewish citizens were first interned in the camp of Ecrouves and then deported and murdered.

The Jewish cemetery , which was inaugurated on September 19, 1849, is located on the road to Neufchâteau . About 100 tombstones ( Mazevot ) are still in the cemetery. Including the grave of Camille Picard , mayor of Lamarche and member of the National Assembly , who died in 1910.
