Jewish cemetery (Nesselröden)

The Jewish cemetery Nesselröden is a cemetery in the district Nesselröden of the municipality of Herleshausen in the Werra-Meißner district in Hesse .

The 980 square meter Jewish cemetery is located northeast of the village near the rubble dump ("Before the goat pit"). There are still sixty tombstones in three rows. The oldest legible tombstone dates from 1866.

The cemetery that still exists today was probably created in the 18th century.

Old graveyard

In Nesselröden there was a first Jewish cemetery about two kilometers northwest of Unterhausen, on the southeast slope of the Eichenberg. The age is not known. There are no more tombstones. The area, located directly on the edge of the forest, is fallow and is not used for agriculture.
