Jewish Cemetery

The Jewish cemetery in Abterode , a district of the Meißner community in the Werra-Meißner district of Hesse , was laid out in the middle of the 17th century. The cemetery is about 200 meters from the outskirts on the right-hand side of the extended Rehbergstrasse.

Before that, the Jews who died in Abterode were buried in the cemetery in Jestädt . The dead of the following Jewish communities were also buried in the Jewish cemetery in Abterode: Allendorf , Frankershausen , Germerode and Vockerode .

In the 49.03 ares large cemetery there are still 491 tombstones from the period 1659 to 1936.
