Jewish cemetery (Schöneberg / Hunsrück)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jewish cemetery Schöneberg / Hunsrück is a cemetery in the local community Schöneberg (Hunsrück) in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The Jewish cemetery is located south of the village in the “Auf dem Gerstenberg” district. It can be reached via a dirt road branching off from the road to Hergenfeld (not far from the intersection at the sports field) east to the edge of the forest.

There are five gravestones in the 1362 m² cemetery, which was occupied in the 19th and 20th centuries . They date between 1885 and 1924. It is not known exactly when the cemetery was laid out. Presumably it was largely cleared away during the Nazi era . Some of the stones have probably disappeared under the overgrown weeds. As far as possible, the cemetery was restored after 1945.
