Osthofen Jewish cemetery

The Osthofen Jewish Cemetery is a historic cemetery in the Osthofen community in the Alzey-Worms district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Geographical location

The Jewish cemetery is located about 500 meters north of the community on Mettenheimer Straße (= L 439).

The cemetery is 1588 m². It was used around 1840 and was used until the 1930s. About 20 tombstones have been preserved . As a monument zone, the complex is a cultural monument due to the Rhineland Palatinate Monument Protection Act .

Old graveyard

An even older Jewish cemetery was on the corner of Starkkmühlweg and Hasengasse. How long it was used and when it was cleared is not known. Today the property is privately owned. A tombstone has been preserved. It was found some time ago during excavation work on the property and incorporated into the property wall.
