The Nieder-Wiesen Jewish cemetery is "an instructive testimony to the history of rural Jews from the Rhineland-Hesse region". It is located on the Morschheimer Weg , southeast of the municipality Nieder-Wiesen in the Alzey-Worms district in Rhineland-Palatinate in a wood.

An older cemetery already existed, the location of which is not known. A mention of 1730/40 could refer to this or the current system.

description

The oldest tombstone ( Mazewa ) probably dates from around 1800. This with about 19 other, often overturned and weathered round-arched steles are located in the undergrowth of the oldest, northern part of the cemetery. The younger section is divided by a west-east path. There 42 stones have been preserved in rows. The occupancy took place here from 1869 to 1934/35, with only those from the 20th century made of hard stone appear south of the path. Several neo-Gothic sandstone steles with tracery and battlements have survived from the 19th century, as well as a broken column with a wreath from 1893 and a depiction of the Aaronic blessing . The oldest stone there is labeled “Holschneider Nack ”.
