Uffhofen Jewish cemetery
The small burial ground of the Jewish cemetery in Uffhofen in Gewann Judenkirchhof is located on a hillside on Wendelsheimer Weg, southwest of Uffhofen, in the midst of vineyards . The old trees are visible from afar. Of the seven graves, which all belong to the Althoff family , four are sandstone steles with an arched end and a characteristic circular motif, between 1871 and 1889, those of Moses Althoff (died 1883) with a Levite jug in relief . The three tall obelisk-like steles from 1906, 1911 and 1929 were made from black Swedish .
The site, which is significant in terms of local history, documents the need of even the smallest Jewish communities in the 19th century for their own cemetery .
