Jürgen Bubendey

Jürgen Bubendey (born May 23, 1948 in Bielefeld ) is a retired German diplomat . Most recently, he was Consul General in Milan from 2009 to 2013 .

Life

After graduating from high school at Aloisiuskolleg in Bonn , Bubendey completed a degree in political science and law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn between 1967 and 1972 , during which he undertook longer study and experience stays in various African countries. In 1972 he passed his first state examination in law and was in Aachen , Cologne and Bonn during the following legal traineeship until 1975 , where he was also a research assistant at the German Bundestag .

After passing the second state examination in law, he became an employee of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in 1976 , where he was speechwriter and personal assistant to the State Secretary until 1983. During this time he was on leave in 1978 to work for a parliamentary group in the German Bundestag.

In 1983 Bubendey switched to the Foreign Service and was employed at the embassy in Italy until 1987 and then at the embassy in Iraq until 1989 . During this time he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit.

After his return, he became a consultant in the Foreign Office in the Department for Constitutional and Administrative Law and then in 1992 Head of the Legal and Consular Department of the Consulate General in New York City , before he was Deputy Head of the Department for Constitutional and Administrative Law in Foreign Affairs between 1996 and 2000 Office was.

Between 2000 and 2004 Bubendey was Consul General in Naples and then Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to Iraq, and from 2006 to 2009 he was head of a unit in the United Nations and Global Affairs Department and then head of the Constitutional and Administrative Law Unit in the Foreign Office.

From July 20, 2009, he was Consul General in Milan , succeeding Axel Hartmann , who became Ambassador to Slovakia . He held this position until he retired in June 2013.

Bubendey worked on a voluntary basis in the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ Foundation) . In 2018 he was a member of the Advisory Board of the Near and Middle East Association
