Jürgen Konrad (racing driver)

Jürgen Konrad (born February 28, 1947 ) is a former German automobile racing driver .

Career

Jürgen Konrad started his amateur driving career in 1973 in touring car racing . In that year he drove in the 1st division of the German Racing Championship (DRM). There he finished in the top ten with a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR in races at the Nürburgring and at the ADAC Sauerland-Bergpreis . In the following year and in 1978 and 1979 Konrad started in individual races in the 1st and 2nd division of the DRM - but could not build on the successes of 1973.

In 1974 he achieved fifth place in the overall standings in a Porsche 911 S in the German Automobile Circuit Cup in Zolder .

In the same year, as well as in 1975 and 1978, he entered the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring with a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 . The long-distance races , he finished with his fellow drivers Horst Sasse, Jürgen Can Acher most successful and Jürgen Freiberger. In 1974 he and Horst Sasse achieved 27th place in the overall standings and 12th place in the GT + 1.6 group. In 1978 he and Jürgen Freiberger were able to achieve 15th place overall and second place in the GT classification for the Kremer Racing Team . This result was also his best result in the sports car world championship .

In 1979 Jürgen Konrad ended his driving career.
