Jürgen Kannacher (* April 7, 1945 ; † March 25, 2019 ) was a German entrepreneur and racing car driver .

Career

Jürgen Kannacher started his racing career in touring car racing in 1972 . In that year he drove a Porsche 911 T in the European championship for GT vehicles and the German Automobile Circuit Trophy (DARM). In 1972 he was able to achieve his first overall victory in the DARM in Zandvoort.

From 1974 to 1976 he took part in various races in the DARM, the Dutch touring car championship and other GT races with the Porsche 911 Carrera RS / RSR and Porsche 934 , and was able to achieve three victories and several other podium places.

From 1974 to 1977, Kannacher drove several races in the 1st division of the German Racing Championship (DRM). There, as in the DARM, he entered Porsche racing cars with moderate success. His best season with Porsche was in 1977, when he drove a Porsche 935 .

In 1980 and 1981 he switched to a BMW M1 , with which he drove in the 1st division of the DRM. From 1982, with the change in the DRM regulations for Group C racing vehicles, he used a URD C81 . In that year he achieved his greatest motorsport success with the 9th DRM season place. In 1983 he drove his last racing season in the DRM. After the Supercup race in Hockenheim with a Strandell 85 , he ended his racing career in 1986.

Kannacher also competed in two long-distance races, at the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring in 1975 with Jürgen Konrad in a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR and at the 1000 km race at Spa-Francorchamps in 1983 with Walter Lechner and Wolfgang Boller in a URD C83 . He and his teammates could not finish both races of the sports car world championship .

Jürgen Kannacher was the owner of a freight forwarding company in Krefeld.
