Jürgen Maruhn (* 29. September 1937 in Berlin , † 11. November 2013 in Munich ) was a German economist , political writer , journalist and SPD - politician .

Life

Maruhn grew up in Dresden and moved to West Germany in the mid-1950s. He studied economics and politics in Stuttgart and Bonn. Due to the radicalization of the Socialist German Student Union (SDS), he and other students founded the Social Democratic University Union (SHB), of which he was the first chairman since 1960.

From 1971 to 1976 he was chairman of the SPD district association Starnberg and founder of the Seeheimer Kreis in Upper Bavaria. Maruhn was also a founding member and long-term board member of the Federal Resistance and Persecution (BWV) in Bavaria and for this association and a predecessor association editor of the magazine "Freiheit und Recht".

Maruhn worked at the Federal Agency for Civic Education in Bonn and later a lecturer at the Academy for Civic Education in Tutzing . Through contact with Annemarie Renger , who founded the Central Association of Democratic Resistance Fighters and Persecuted Organizations (ZDWV) in the 1950s , Maruhn became editor-in-chief of the association's period, the half-yearly magazine "Freiheit und Recht", which was published by the ZDWV and until 2007 was then published by the BWV and published quarterly until 2011.

In 1975 Maruhn was co-author of the brochure "Godesberg and the Present", which was written by Hermann Buschfort , Heinz Ruhnau and Hans-Jochen Vogel .

In Bavaria, Maruhn was a member of the board of directors from 2004 to 2011 and at the same time managing director of the "Federal Resistance and Persecution", which - like the ZDWV - was supposed to be a reservoir for resistance fighters who were not party-politically determined.
