Jürgen Meißner (born July 18, 1940 in Jürgenfelde , East Prussia ) is a German farmer and politician ( DBD , CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Meißner studied agriculture at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1960 to 1966 , from which he graduated as a qualified farmer. From 1966/67 he was head of plant production at VEG Blankenburg and from 1967 to 1972 he was deputy director at VEG Staffelde . From 1972 to 1977 he was head of the cooperative plant production department at VEG Tantow . In 1977 he took over the post of director there. In 1976 he received his doctorate at the Biosciences Faculty of Berlin's Humboldt University (dissertation: intensification of feed production on diluvial sites in the northeast of the GDR with special focus on alfalfa ).

Jürgen Meißner is married and has three children.

Meißner was a member of the Democratic Peasant Party of Germany (DBD) during the GDR . From 1976 to 1990 he was a member of the People's Chamber . On April 22, 1990 he was elected chairman of the newly founded DBD regional association Brandenburg. After the political change in 1990, the DBD was part of the CDU . In 1990 Meißner was elected to the Brandenburg State Parliament, to which he was a member until 1999. From 1990 to 1994, when he represented the constituency Templin I - Angermünde I, he was a member of the Committee on Food, Agriculture and Forestry. From 1994 to 1999, when he represented the constituency of Uckermark I, he was a member of the Committee on Labor, Social Affairs, Health and Women. In the 1999 state election campaign, Meißner stood out as an advocate of the Lower Oder Valley National Park project . In addition to his function as a member of the state parliament , he was a member of the council of the Mescherin community and a member of the district council of the Uckermark district .
