Jürgen Schlegel (born November 10, 1977 ) is a German professional dancer , dance sports trainer and dance instructor from Ravensburg .

Life

After leaving school, Jürgen Schlegel first completed a teaching degree and training as a pharmaceutical-technical assistant . This was followed by training as a dance trainer A Latin in Latin American dances in Hamburg with Bernd and Evelyn Hörmann.

At first he was a competitive gymnast . At the age of seven he started dancing, initially in various styles such as hip-hop, jazz dance , tap dance and rock 'n' roll , before taking a dance class in a dance school at 14 . There he danced in a Latin formation , where he also met his dance partner Ksenija Gorenc, with whom he had danced since 1998.

In two years, the couple danced for the amateur dance club Blau-Rot Ravensburg e. V. started, from the lowest class to the highest starting class S-Latin. At the beginning of 2006 both switched to professionals. For professional and health reasons, however, Ksenija Gorenc then had to withdraw from active dance. From 2009 to the beginning of October 2011 Jürgen Schlegel danced with Melissa Ortiz-Gomez at the Professionals Latin.

Jürgen Schlegel became known to a larger audience in 2007 through his participation in the second season of the RTL dance show " Let's Dance ", in which he danced with Margarethe Schreinemakers . As a trainer for young couples, speaker at large dance sport events such as B. the Euro Dance Festival in Europa-Park Rust , Jürgen Schlegel also works as a show dancer and choreographer in neighboring countries.

In the third season of the RTL dance show "Let's Dance" he was the choreographic support of his dance partner Melissa Ortiz-Gomez, who danced herself to fourth place alongside actor Raúl Richter . With Moritz Sachs (“Klaus Beimer” / Lindenstrasse) they took second place (2011). With actor Manuel Cortez they won the TV show (2013). He was also involved in Sylvie van der Vaart's final freestyle . The Hofmann siblings have also been trained by him for many years.

In autumn 2017 Schlegel founded his own dance school in Ravensburg, the Tanzwerk . In addition, Schlegel has been a member of the board of the ATC Blau-Rot Ravensburg dance club since 1998.

In 2018 Jürgen Schlegel was a dance coach for the TV show "May I ask?", The Swiss equivalent of the German "Let's Dance!" Here he danced alongside Brigitte Oertli (9-time World Cup winner and 2 × Olympic silver) up to the semi-finals. In 2019 he danced with the Swiss presenter Patricia Boser .

In May 2019 Schlegel was elected to the Ravensburg City Council as a member of the Free Voters in the local elections.

In April 2006 Jürgen Schlegel and his dance partner Ksenija Gorenc were awarded the silver sports badge of honor by the Baden-Württemberg Dance Sport Association for their successes in dancing. In the same year they were named team of the year by the city of Ravensburg.

In 2015, Schlegel was voted sports official of the year by the city of Ravensburg.
