Jürgen Volkmann

Jürgen Volkmann (born January 17, 1929 in Wolmirstedt ; † March 28, 2017 ) was a German lawyer and judge at the Federal Social Court .

Career

Jürgen Volkmann attended schools in Magdeburg , Dresden , Berlin and Bad Reichenhall , and then in 1949 began studying law at the University of Munich . In 1953 he passed the first state examination in law and, after his legal clerkship in 1957, also the second state examination in Munich . This was followed by a position as a research assistant at the Federal Social Court until 1964. While he was working there, he received his doctorate in 1966 at the University of Cologne on the problem of the legal force of administrative acts under social security law . In 1964 he became a judge at the Trier Social Court and in 1966 a judge at the Rhineland-Palatinate Regional Social Court in Mainz .

From February 1, 1974, Volkmann was a judge at the Federal Social Court and remained so until his retirement on November 1, 1992. From April 1988, he presided over the 11th Senate at the Federal Social Court, which was responsible for legal disputes from the area of ​​responsibility of the Federal Agency for Work . Overall, at the Federal Social Court, he dealt primarily with cases from the areas of war victims ' insurance, health and pension insurance, and employment promotion . He was also interested in the influence of modern data processing on the judiciary.
