Jürgen Weber (born October 17, 1941 in Lahr / Black Forest ) is a German engineer and business manager .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1961, Weber studied aeronautical engineering at the Technical University of Stuttgart . After completing his studies with a diploma in 1965, Weber worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Statics and Dynamics of Aerospace Structures at the Technical University of Stuttgart. In 1967 he moved to Deutsche Lufthansa AG in Hamburg. In 1974 Weber was appointed head of the main maintenance department at the headquarters in Frankfurt am Main. He returned to Hamburg in 1978 to head the main aircraft department. In 1980 he completed a senior management program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 1987, the Lufthansa Executive Board made him general representative for technology. In 1989 Weber himself became a deputy member of the board. In 1990 he first took over the management of the technology division, then became the deputy chairman of the board.

In 1991 he finally became Chairman of the Board of Management, was replaced by Wolfgang Mayrhuber in 2003 and moved to the Supervisory Board as Chairman . In May 2013, he was again replaced as Mayrhuber's supervisory board chairman.

Jürgen Weber holds supervisory board mandates at the following companies: Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG, Bayer AG, Hapag-Lloyd AG, Willy Bogner GmbH & Co. , Voith AG as well as Loyalty Partner GmbH and Tetra Laval Group (Switzerland). He is a member of the group advisory board of Deutsche Bahn .

He has two children with his wife Sabine. Weber lives in Hamburg.
