Jürgen Zelm

Jürgen Zelm (born January 23, 1953 in Anklam ) is a former German SED functionary, PDS politician and DFB national coach. He was the last first secretary of the SED district leadership in Neubrandenburg and the first state chairman of the PDS in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Life

After attending the POS, Zelm studied at an institute for teacher training until 1973 . From 1973 he worked as a friendship pioneer leader and lower school teacher and was a member of the Anklam district council for youth issues, physical culture and sport. In 1971 Zelm joined the SED. From 1974 to 1979 Zelm graduated from the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam-Babelsberg with a degree in political science.

In 1979 he became a member of the secretariat and in 1980 second secretary of the FDJ district leadership in Neubrandenburg. From 1984 to 1989 he was the first secretary of the FDJ district leadership and was a member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership in Neubrandenburg. From 1980 to 1989 Zelm was a member of the Neubrandenburg district assembly . From 1986 to 1989 he was also a member of the Central Council of the FDJ.

On December 11, 1989, Zelm became the first secretary of the SED district leadership in Neubrandenburg. When the PDS regional association Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was constituted on March 3, 1990, he was elected state chairman and confirmed in this office on June 10 at the 1st state party congress. In the state elections in October 1990, Zelm was elected to the state parliament. At the end of May 1991 he renounced his state parliament mandate; on May 4, 1991 Helmut Holter had already replaced him as PDS state chairman.

In the early 1990s, Zelm worked as a sales representative, insurance agent and real estate agent and opened a shop for sports and leisure goods. He later became a junior coach at the football club Post Neubrandenburg . Until June 2018, Zelm was the DFB state coach for the female selection in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and base coordinator in the state football association of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
