Jitrovník (also called Pytlák (= poacher), German Jüttelberg after Jutrobog, (probably) the god of the dawn (see Jüterbog )., Also called Jüttelsberg according to more recent spelling ) is a 509 m high granite mountain near Šluknov in the Bohemian Netherlands in Northern Bohemia ( Czech Republic ). According to a legend , there is an old witches' dance area on the mountain. A hiking trail leads from the bus stop "Království u Šluknova" (King's Forest) to the lookout point.

geography

The trout raft rises on the north-eastern slope of the mountain and the Koschelbach flows around it in the south .

In 1888, Johann Vogel built a restaurant for excursions below the summit on the eastern mountain slope, which was popularly known as the "Vogelbaude". On the summit a 24 m high wooden observation tower was built by the Mountain Association for Northern Bohemia . The tower collapsed again in 1903. From 1962 to 1990 there was a pioneer camp of the ZPA Praha company in the former restaurant, which today only exists as a ruin and is overgrown with bushes. Since May 18, 2002, every year at Whitsun, the Jüttelsberg meeting of the citizens of the five parish (a loose alliance of places on both sides of the German-Czech border) has taken place on the mountain. The five municipalities' declaration of intent was signed by the mayors of the five municipalities Neusalza-Spremberg (Günter Paulik), the then still independent municipality Friedersdorf (Spree) (Günter Hamisch) and Oppach (Karl-Heinz David) in German and Jiříkov (Michal Majak) and Šluknov (Milan Korinek) on the Czech side. On May 10, 2008, the municipality of Sohland (Spree) under Mayor Matthias Pilz and on November 4, 2011 the twin towns of Ebersbach-Neugersdorf under Mayor Verena Hergenröder became members of the municipal association. In 2015, as part of its activities, the Five Community held the 14th friendship meeting on the Jüttelsberg.

view

From the top of the mountain there is no view due to the forest cover. Due to the exposed location, you can see far below the wooded hilltop. The view extends from the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and Lusatian Mountains to Jeschken and the Jizera and Giant Mountains . To the north, the ridges of the Lusatian mountains in Saxony limit the horizon.
