The place Jędrzychowice ( German Hennersdorf , Upper Lusatian : Hennerschdurf ) belongs to the Polish rural community Zgorzelec and is located a few kilometers north of Zgorzelec . It is particularly known for its former large border crossing to the Federal Republic of Germany . The German Autobahn 4 is continued here as the Polish Autostrada A4 . After Poland joined the European Union in 2004 and the Schengen Agreement , the border controls ceased and the border crossing with the control systems was completely dismantled by 2012.
history
On February 1, 1874, the Hennersdorf district was established . This included the rural communities Hennersdorf, Leopoldshain (today Łagów ), Lissa and Sercha as well as the four homonymous manor districts . Lissa and Sercha were later spun off with the homonymous manor districts in the Lissa district . On October 17, 1928, the two manor districts were dissolved and partly transferred to the independent city of Görlitz, partly to the respective rural community. On July 1, 1935, the district was finally dissolved and an administrative district of the same name was formed from each of the two communities.
