J. Terry Williams (born August 25, 1930 - March 22, 2015 ) was an American film editor .

Life

J. Terry Williams gained his first experience in Hollywood as an assistant to film editors such as Aaron Stell , whom he helped with the film editing of the literary adaptation Who disturbs the Nightingale (1962). For the Doris Day - Rock Hudson -Komödie Send Me No Flowers , he was responsible in 1964 for the first time as an independent editor. For work on his next film The Russians are Coming! The Russians are Coming! 1967 received Williams along with Hal Ashby nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Editing . While he was still working as assistant to editor George Tomasini on Alfred Hitchcock's thriller Psycho (1960) , he was solely responsible for editing Hitchcock's last film Family Grave in 1976 . From 1956 he was a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild.

Williams lived with his wife Merlene in Laguna Hills , California .
