Wolfgang Hückel

Wolfgang Hückel (born January 13, 1936 in Riesa ; † May 16, 2019 in Traunstein ) was a German diplomat . He was Ambassador of the GDR in Chad .

Life

Hückel attended secondary school and, after completing his Abitur, studied from 1956 to 1960 at the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam . He completed his studies with a degree in political science.

Then he joined the diplomatic service of the GDR. He was initially an employee in the IV. Non-European Department ( Africa ) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). 1963/1963 he worked as an attaché at the embassy in Bucharest . From 1964 to 1966 he worked again as an employee for the IV. Non-European department. From 1967 to 1969 he was third secretary at the GDR trade agency in Guinea . Between 1969 and 1972 he was Sector Manager for the French-speaking countries in the North and West Africa Department. From 1972 to 1975 he was second or first secretary and deputy head of the legation or embassy in the People's Republic of the Congo . From 1975 to 1979 he was Deputy Head of the International Relations Department of the National Council of the National Front . From 1979 to 1982 he was ambassador in N'Djamena , then from 1982 to 1987 political worker in the Africa sector of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the SED. From 1988 to 1990 he was again sector manager in the North and West Africa department at the MfAA.

Hückel was a member of the SED .

Hückel died on May 16, 2019 with his family.
