Gerhard Krausse

Gerhard Krausse (also: Krauße ; * July 1, 1926 in Teichwolframsdorf ; † March 5, 2012 ) was a German diplomat . He was Ambassador of the GDR in Chad .

Life

Krausse, son of a working-class family, attended elementary school . He worked as an administrative clerk. On April 20, 1944, like many Hitler Youths born in 1926 and 1927, he was accepted into the NSDAP . After 1945 he joined the SED , studied and graduated in 1962 with a degree in political science.

Since 1962 he was an employee of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). At first he worked as an employee of the embassy in Bucharest and then as the acting head of the GDR commercial agency in Guinea . From 1971 to 1976 he was ambassador to N'Djamena . Krausse then became head of the information service and press evaluation department at the MfAA.
