Jablunyzja ( Ukrainian Яблуниця ; Russian Яблоница Jabloniza , Polish Jabłonica ) is a village in the Forest Carpathians in the western Ukrainian Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast with about 2000 inhabitants (2004).
Geographical location
Jablunyzja is on the national trunk road N 09 , which leads south over the nearby Jablunyzkyj Pass to the Transcarpathian Oblast and north to the town of Yaremche, 36 km away, and then to Ivano-Frankivsk , 92 km away . The nearest train station is in Tatariv, 11 km away on the Sighetu Marmației – Ivano-Frankivsk railway line .

The place is the administrative center of the district council of the same name , which belongs to the urban district of the northern city of Yaremche. The village of Voronenko ( Вороненко ⊙ ) with about 420 inhabitants also belongs to the municipality.
history
In the village, founded in the 17th century, there was a synagogue for the numerous Jews of the village before the Second World War . During the German occupation of Jablunyzja , many transports of Hungarian Jews to Jablunyzja, who were shot in the village, were transported across the border pass to Hungary , which was occupied by a branch of the security police in Tatariv.
