Jack Carleton Duncan (born April 19, 1993 in Hobart ) is an Australian football player .

Career

Duncan was born in Tasmania , but first grew up in Western Australia and lived in New South Wales from the age of eight . In the youth sector, Duncan played for the Grays Point SC, the Sutherland Sharks and the Marconi Stallions before he was active for the Sharks in the adult sector for the 2010 season. Behind goalkeeper Nathan Denham, he stayed there without a league appearance in the New South Wales Premier League . In 2010 he moved to the A-League club Newcastle United Jets , where he was primarily a member of the youth team in the National Youth League , but was nominated several times in league matches as a substitute goalkeeper for the professional team in his first season with the Jets.

For his only competitive game for the Jets Duncan came on November 19, 2011 against Brisbane Roar (final score 1: 2), when goalkeeper Ben Kennedy was injured in the 51st minute and the nominal substitute goalkeeper Matthew Nash was injured due to injury. After he was only number 3 in the goalkeeping position behind Mark Birighitti and Kennedy in the 2012/13 season , he switched to league rivals Perth Glory at the end of the season , where he was substitute goalkeeper behind Danny Vukovic .

Duncan was in his first season at Perth on the last six match days, but benefited from the fact that Vukovic was loaned out to Vegalta Sendai at that time . In the 2014/15 season he was still a substitute goalkeeper behind Vukovic, including the lost cup final against Adelaide United in December . In January 2015, during the interruption of the A-League due to the Asian Cup taking place in Australia , Duncan traveled to the Danish first division club Randers FC for a two-week trial training session . In the summer of 2015 he moved to Randers in the Danish Super League , where he is substitute goalkeeper behind Karl-Johan Johnsson in his first season .

Duncan was appointed to an Australian national team for the first time in October 2011 on the occasion of qualifying for the 2012 U-19 Asian Cup . He was also part of the squad at the finals, when the team qualified for the 2013 U-20 World Cup in Turkey through the semi-finals , but remained behind Paul Izzo without a commitment. For the finals of the U-20 World Cup, Duncan was also nominated, but was again without a stake behind Izzo in the preliminary round there. In January 2014, Duncan took part with the Australian U-23 selection in the U-22 Asian Championship , in which the team failed in the quarter-finals to Saudi Arabia. Duncan took turns on the goalkeeping position with John Hall and Aaron Lennox and was used in the 4-0 defeat in the last group game against Japan, when the group victory was already certain. In January 2016, Duncan was a regular goalkeeper at the U-23 Asian Cup , which also served as a qualifying tournament for the 2016 Olympic Football Tournament . The Australian team failed in the preliminary round, Duncan had only conceded one goal in the three preliminary round games.
