Jack Hutchins
Jack Hutchins (actually John William Milton Hutchins; born June 8, 1926 in Vancouver , † April 8, 2008 in West Vancouver ) was a Canadian middle-distance runner and sprinter .
At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 he reached the semi-finals over 800 m and was eliminated over 1500 m in the preliminary run.
In 1950, he won silver over 880 yards at the British Empire Games in Auckland , finished eighth in the mile run and finished fifth in the Canadian 4 x 440 yard relay.
At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , he reached the semi-finals over 800 m and was fourth with the Canadian team in the 4-by-400-meter relay . In 1954 he failed at the British Empire Games in Vancouver over 880 yards in the preliminary round.
Twice he was Canadian champion over 800 m or 880 yards (1947, 1948) and once each over 440 yards (1951) and over a mile (1949).
